Sofradim Production

How does a manufacturing company *engage its production teams* in internal communication?

Read this case study to learn how the collaborative solution meets the needs of Sofradim Production to engage and inform its production employees.

The company *Sofradim Production*

Sofradim Production is a subsidiary of the Medtronic Group that specializes in parietal implants. It currently employs 270 people at its Trévoux site in the Ain department. With numerous production teams, a three-shift, eight-hour work schedule, and uneven access to information, it was difficult to maintain effective internal communication that reached the entire workforce.

The paper notices posted in the hallway or break rooms were not updated immediately and required a considerable amount of time between layout and printing. In addition, the daily email updates did not reach all teams. A solution was therefore needed.

Industrial Sector

A need for ~cross-functionality~ and ~inclusivity~

The company was facing several challenges: internal communication was limited to top-down and bottom-up channels;information was not shared in real time with employees who did not have access to a computer at their workstations; and there was a need to involve the teams in company life and foster stronger connections.

They then decided to implement an internal communication tool that was both easy to use and user-friendly. Steeple was chosen to ensure the dissemination of information in high-traffic areas, throughout the many production areas, in the cafeteria, and so on.

"Thanks to the touchscreens installed in the various production areas and in the break room, teams are now instantly informed of company news: new hires, departures, photos of finished products, safety-related messages, etc." ~Guillaume Tabart, Head of Operational Excellence (Opex)~

*Inclusion* of production employees

Access to information is open to everyone. Anyone can share posts that include text, photos, videos, and more. Given its manufacturing operations, the company wanted to encourage its managers to share production results by posting before-and-after images, with the goal of highlighting their teams’ expertise.

Employees appreciate knowing what is happening in the various production areas, learning about other job roles, and having access to safety-related messages that help them avoid risks.

Increased *well-being* at work

The information is accessible to everyone, without exception. Employees are particularly enthusiastic about certain topics: quality, safety, the environment, HR news, upcoming training sessions, and so on. They’ve even quickly gotten into the habit of commenting, liking, and tagging colleagues.

According to a recent survey distributed internally to all employees, the company found that internal communication is more effective and accessible, and that employees appreciate receiving information in real time.

Visibility, interactions, and *cross-departmental sharing*

Sofradim Production takes the collaborative tool to a whole new level. For example, the implementation of sports prediction modules and the sharing of match results for favorite teams serve as a way to bring teams together.

The "Among Us" section helps strengthen bonds by sharing carpooling announcements and tips on finding a place to stay.

Surveys provide QHSE teams with an opportunity to raise workers' awareness of accident risks.
