Super U La Châtaigneraie

How is the *Super U in La Châtaigneraie* improving and centralizing its internal communication?

How Lionel Laville, a partner at Super U La Châtaigneraie, centralized 100% of his store’s internal communication on Steeple and broke down barriers between departments.

The *Super U La Châtaigneraie* store

The Super U La Châtaigneraie is one of the stores in the U cooperative. About 150 employees —with an average age of 37—keep the 5,000 m² of retail space running.

Lionel Laville, a partner at the store for the past six years, had noticed a recurring pattern: despite the increasing number of communication channels (posters, memos, reports), employees often said they weren't aware of the information.

~Go Paperless~ and Save Time

Before Steeple, communication relied on paper: posters that had to be printed in large quantities, photocopies that had to be reprinted with every update. This took a considerable amount of time, with no guarantee that the information would actually be read.

The goal: a single source of information, updated in real time, accessible to everyone. With Steeple, paper signs are a thing of the past, and the store has saved both time and money.

3

consecutive years as a Great Place to Work

"I'm 59 years old, and this is the first time I've seen something like this. Today, there's no turning back: Steeple has truly transformed in-store communication, and right from the start, the teams have been fully on board." ~Lionel, Partner~

"What we hadn't realized was how the barriers between the different sections of the store had been broken down. The gas station staff are separated from the store, and the general merchandise section had little interaction with the butcher shop… Steeple helped build connections across generations." ~Lionel, Partner~

A tool *available everywhere*

The information is available through three channels: the mobile app, a computer, and a touchscreen in the break room.

The store opted for a BYOD approach: each employee installs the app on their personal smartphone. This approach was quickly adopted thanks to word of mouth. Notifications can still be customized individually (vacations, time slots) to allow users to control their own usage.

A *weekly schedule*

The team has developed a weekly editorial calendar:

- Monday: A Message from Management
- Wednesday: CSE Update
- Thursday: Client Publications
- Friday: Tip of the Week
- Saturday: HR Spotlight

Each department has its own area of responsibility: the bar-brasserie focuses on its menus, the Employee Representative Committee (CSE) on its initiatives… Virtually the entire company plays a role in the publications.

*Breaking down barriers*

What the store hadn’t anticipated was the breaking down of barriers between the different sections. Across 5,000 m², people don’t always cross paths: the gas station, the general store, the butcher shop, the administrative offices… Steeple has fostered connections between generations and professions.

Thanks to the built-in private messaging feature, work-related communications stay within a professional context without encroaching on personal life. Teams (cashier, reception, vault) and cross-functional subgroups have naturally formed.

The store is convinced that Steeple has helped it earn the Great Place to Work certification for three consecutive years.
